Winter Escape: The Chalet Les Gentianes 1850 in Courchevel, the French Alps

For this weekend, let's pack our suitcase and get away in Courchevel in the French Alps. Yesss!

For those who don't know this location, Courchevel is one of the most famous ski resorts in the world which combines elegance with luxury. Part of the largest ski area in the world, it is a place to see and to be seen in! Courchevel is, without doubt, the premier resort in France. It is synonymous with luxury and is home to some of the very finest chalets in the Alps.

The spectacular chalet Les Gentianes 1850 has an exceptional and unique location in the prestigious resort of Courchevel with its magical atmosphere. A winter-wonderland, surrounded by snow covered trees, it truly is a ski-in ski-out location.

The chalet has been built in a sympathetic alpine style with wood interiors, exposed ceiling beams and a cosy fireplace in the living room.

It also has its own swimming pool, complete with Jacuzzi and steam room.

A place of sublime comfort with natural materials, selected to emphasise the moods, colours and textures of the mountains. Perfect!

This chalet exudes rustic elegance and is fitted for every comfort anybody could ever need when visiting the mountains for a skiing vacation! Don’t you just love it? Truly unique mountain hideway...

Amazing Gulpiyuri Beach without the Sea, Spain

Let's go to the beach this weekend, shall we? Let's go get away to one of the most amazing beaches in the world: Playa de Gulpiyuri or the Gulpiyuri Beach.

If you travel, you have probably visited many beautiful and exotic beaches, but not one like Gulpiyuri Beach.

It is a shell shaped little beach located in the middle of a grassy meadow, near Llanes, a charming town on the northern coast of Spain.

Gulpiyuri Beach is unlike anything you have ever seen, or even imagined existed outside of fantasy books or fictional planets. Imagine walking over 100 meters from the sea shoreline and stumbling over a small charming beach right in the middle of a green meadow. And while you may find other beaches completely hidden from the open sea, around the world, this one is actually fully tidal and even has waves bathing the small strip of golden sand.

The beach is very small, only 40 meters long, and it takes just a few minutes to fully swim across it. Some people have even reported being able to bodysurf on the small waves.
Water from the nearby Bay of Biscay comes in through the underground tunnel network and washes up on Gulpiyuri in gentle waves, adding to the charm of this magical cove.

The shallow crystal clear water of this place acts as a swimming invitation that cannot be refused, but you may find it a little cold, because the water tends to remain underground for a while, before washing into the Beach.

You may be wondering how such an Oasis could exist away from the coastline, and the answer is: nature is a wonderful artist! The oasis is actually a karstic sinkhole. The nearby Cantabria Sea ate through the limestone coast resulting in underground caves, allowing the seawater inland. Overtime the sea eroded the caves causing them to collapse, creating a sinkhole resulting in this beautiful beach.

This amazing cove is protected from wind and waves...so there is a "quietness" that is unreal, when comparing the beach to others in Asturias or Cantabria. It seemed more like a Mediterranean beach!

Playa de Gulpiyuri is not only rare, it's hard to find! Many people have admitted to only being able to get there with the help of the advice of the locals, or a GPS! But once we got there you will realize that it is worth the trip!

The beach has been declared a national monument of the Austrias. If you are a fan of exotic beaches, this is one you shouldn't miss on a weekend trip! What do you think?

Have a breezy weekend,

Let's go to Slovania with a view from Smarjetna Gora

Image from here

My picture of the Day was taken by Mihael Grmek on top of Šmarjetna Gora. It is a solitary low mountain rising above Kranj on the right bank of the Sava River. The mountain is approximately 646 meters high (2,119 ft).

From this vantage point, we overlook Škofja Loka, a beautiful small town in Slovenia of about 12,000 inhabitants. Today it stands as one of the best preserved medieval urban centers in all of Slovenia and was proclaimed a cultural monument in 1987.

Have a breezy day,

Sunday Escape - Tagomago Island

My Sunday post is about the famous Tagomago Island. It is one of the few and most beautiful private islands in Ibiza, Spain. You can take a boat from Ibiza to Tagomago Island...

The Island is perfectly located 900 metres off the coast of the jet set island of Ibiza and 30 minutes by boat to the beautiful beaches of Formentera and not so far from Palma de Mallorca.

Covering 400.000 square metres of the Mediterranean Sea and surrounded by turquoise waters and a unique flora, you will find an intimate hideaway, a perfect getaway.

The modern and only private villa constructed on Tagomago Private Island has a large swimming pool, 5 bedrooms with bathrooms en suite, living room, dining room, kitchen, etc.

The beaches on the Western side of the island provide excellent opportunities for swimming, diving and all types of water sport.

The island has small jetty in a protected bay, just like a private port. How beautiful is this place?

Have a breezy day,

My Best Europe Vacations

Arc de Triomphe, Paris
Let's get away to Europe. Culture, beauty and a unique experience await... Best of all, I do think our Europe travels don't have to cost a small fortune.
